Box Altitude designs controlled hypoxic environments for commercial and residential projects. A training room has different airflow and occupancy requirements from a bedroom, hotel suite or apartment, so each system is sized around room volume, intended use, occupancy and target altitude.
| Application | Typical use | Planning guide |
|---|---|---|
| Altitude training room | Gyms, teams, institutes, universities | ~1 F20 / 12 m³ |
| Altitude bedroom | Home sleep and residential use | ~1 F20 / 16 m³ |
| Hotel / athlete accommodation | Sports hotels, resorts, apartments | ~1 F20 / 16 m³ sleeping-room guide |
These are initial planning guides. Final specification depends on room design, leakage, occupancy, target altitude, ventilation and operating conditions.
A Box Altitude system supplies reduced-oxygen air into a suitably controlled room and works toward the selected oxygen concentration, creating a simulated-altitude environment while users train, sleep or recover.
As an initial guide, active training rooms are typically planned at approximately one F20 per 12 m³, while sleeping rooms are typically planned at approximately one F20 per 16 m³. A 60 m² training room with a 2.4 m ceiling is 144 m³, giving an initial estimate of approximately 12 F20 generators before final review.
The New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) in Upper Hutt demonstrates the scale of a multi-room Box Altitude project. The facility combines a large simulated-altitude training environment with four altitude-enabled apartments, allowing athletes to train and sleep within a controlled altitude programme at the same performance campus.

Bedrooms are designed primarily for long-duration overnight exposure and generally use a lower airflow requirement per cubic metre. Training rooms must accommodate active users, higher metabolic demand and potentially multiple occupants, so they normally require greater generator capacity.
Multiple F20 generators can operate together, allowing projects to scale from a single bedroom to large commercial altitude rooms and multi-room facilities.
Send us the room length, width, ceiling height, number of users, intended use and target simulated altitude. We can recommend the initial generator configuration and project scope.
